Terms
Clear expectations make for better working relationships.
These terms explain how Englishire considers enquiries, confirms temporary teacher cover and works with schools throughout Tokyo.
Last reviewed: 16 July 2026
Before any assignment begins.
Englishire believes that professional relationships are strongest when expectations are understood before the first lesson rather than after it. Accordingly, these terms explain how enquiries are reviewed, how assignments become confirmed and the responsibilities shared by both Englishire and the school.
Every assignment deserves proper consideration before a promise is made.
1. Enquiries
An enquiry is an invitation to consider an assignment. It is not, by itself, confirmation that a teacher is available or that cover has been accepted.
2. Availability
Availability depends upon the assignment, timetable, location, learner groups and other practical considerations. Availability should never be assumed until Englishire confirms the arrangement.
3. Confirmation
An assignment becomes confirmed only when Englishire expressly agrees the dates, timetable and principal arrangements.
4. Information Provided by the School
Schools should provide accurate information concerning the location, nearest station, timetable, learner age groups, lesson format, teaching materials, safeguarding arrangements and any other matters reasonably required to understand the assignment.
5. Teacher Responsibilities
Teachers are expected to conduct themselves professionally, arrive punctually, prepare appropriately, respect school procedures, maintain confidentiality and represent Englishire with courtesy.
6. Changes
Should the timetable, location or nature of the assignment change, Englishire should be informed promptly so that the revised arrangements may be considered properly.
7. Cancellation
Where cancellation becomes necessary, the school should notify Englishire as soon as reasonably practicable. Any applicable arrangements will depend upon what has previously been agreed.
8. Fees
Fees, expenses and any related administrative matters are agreed before an assignment is confirmed unless expressly stated otherwise.
9. Liability
Englishire endeavours to provide its services with reasonable care and professional judgement. Nothing within these terms excludes liability where exclusion would be unlawful.
10. Governing Law
These terms should be interpreted in accordance with the laws applicable to the services provided and any mandatory legal requirements.

Our Working Principle
We believe that the strongest professional relationships begin with clarity rather than assumption.
Every assignment deserves proper consideration before a promise is made.
Should anything within these terms require clarification, we should be delighted to explain it.
